Android P (9.0) may support blocking of unknown phone numbers

After the launch of Android 8 Oreo, all Android users are already waiting for the Android P (9.0) version. The Android P may have enhanced call blocking feature.

The feature will enable you block calls from unknown numbers, private numbers, pay phones or any numbers not in your contact list. You can also restrict who is allowed to call you so you won’t even be bothered by unwanted phone calls.

Here are the phone numbers you can block in the following contexts:

  • The phone number is not in your contacts list.
  • The phone number is not disclosed by the caller (Private).
  • The phone number is from a pay phone.
  • The phone number does not have any caller ID information (Unknown/Unidentified).

In a case, the caller calls in emergency mode, the feature will be disabled. And also, the feature can be disabled in the carrier’s discretion. It’s possible our network providers like (MTN, Glo, 9mobile, Airtel…) will sell you the service for blocking unwanted calls.

The feature is not yet in Android but it’s entirely possible we will start seeing it on Android P version.

Do you like blocking unwanted numbers from your phone? What’s your say about the feature?
