Facebook scandal? Instagram to allow you download your own data

According to a report by Techcrunch, an Instagram spokesperson responded to the report about the lack of data portability in the service. Therefore, Instagram revealed plans of allowing users download a copy of their data.

The details of the features hasn’t been revealed at the moment. People suggested the feature will allow users download all their photos and videos, while others suggested the feature would allow users get backup of their sent messages, Stories and others. However, Instagram hasn’t revealed to what extent the feature would allow backing up users data.

Facebook has had backup facility for many years now, but Instagram is just yet to have its own. It’s no doubt, many users have been trying to take away their data elsewhere, due to the data scandal and distrust for the company.

While Instagram locked all their information uploaded to it and no easy way to download any of it. Meanwhile, a third party service can still be used but it’s always a suspect.
