O Etisalat! One of the best and fastest network when it comes to browsing and surfing of the internet, has been given 3 weeks to exit and phase out the brand in Nigeria. This means that Etisalat has reportedly terminated its management with Etisalat Nigeria.
The Abu Dhabi-owned telecommunications networks took the decision after its $1.7 million loan talk collapsed.
Hatem Dowidar, Chief Executive of Etisalat International said on Monday that there was no need for the brand (Etisalat) in Nigeria after the loan talk collapsed. Meanwhile, Nigeria regulators intervened last week to save Etisalat Nigeria from collapse after talks with it lenders to renegotiate a $1.2 billion fails.
Although Etisalat Nigeria in a statement issued three weeks ago, claimed to have repaid 42 percent of the loan.
Etisalat international, therefore announced on Monday that it was pulling out as all UAE (United Arab Emirates) shareholders of the company have exited and left the board and management of the Nigerian arm.
However, Hatem Dowidar, the Chief Executive of Etisalat International said discussion was ongoing with Etisalat Nigeria to provide technical support, he also added that it can use the brand for another three weeks before phasing it out.
