How to add password to protect a page and post on Blogger

Are you looking for a way to protect your post or a page on your Blogger blog? Have you created a website for business purpose and feel like to add Password to protect the page or post on Blogger? You can do that easily with the help of this article.

Password protected page or post feature is useful when you want to share a particular information to some specific members or people. Unlike WordPress and Weebly, Blogger does not support the feature to protect a page or post. This might be one of the downsides of blogger but thanks to its flexibility, you can do that easily with just a code.

Content encryption is a JavaScript code that will help you lock up your post or page from the public unless it’s being unlocked by a key. The “key” is the password you implemented. Though, people may access the page but cannot see the content.

How to Create a Password Protected Page on Blogger

STEP 1: Log in to your Blogger Dashboard and navigate down to the “Pages” or “Posts” but I will use Page for the example in this article.

STEP 2: Now, in the Page option, click on “New Page” and add the following JavaScript content encryption code in the HTML section:

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=”JavaScript”> var password = ‘prexblog‘ password=prompt(‘This is password protected page, please enter password to continue.’,”); if (password != ‘prexblog‘) { location.href=’http://www.error_page_url.com‘; } </SCRIPT>

Note: Remember to change prexblog to your desired password. Also change http://www.error_page_url.com to the URL you want it to redirect onto when a user enters a wrong password.

STEP 3: Now, save and publish the page or post.
STEP 4: Go to the post and open it, you will see a prompt asking you to enter your password.
