Music Platform Spotify facing a $1.6 Billion Copyright Lawsuit

The music publisher of artists such as Tom Petty, Neil Young and The Doors, Wixen Music hit Spotify – the music platform, with a copyright lawsuit.

The damages is said to worth about $1.6 billion along with injunctive relief – whereby Spotify is required to refrain from reproducing another person’s work.

Wixen is the current holder of “Light My Fire” by The Doors and “Free Fallin” by Tom Petty. Wixen company alleges that Spotify outsourced its work to a third party licensing and royalty services provider the Harry Fox Agency which was “ill-equipped to obtain all the necessary mechanical licenses“.
