Nokia, Xiaomi and 16 more OEMs to deliver 5G enabled smartphones in 2019

Qualcomm has recently announced that it will provide Snapdragon X50 Modems that support the new standards to 18 Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) including smartphone manufacturers, Asus, Fujitsu, Sharp, HMD Global, ZTE, HTC, Oppo, vivo, Sony, Xiaomi, and LG.

The great Apple is missing from the list, while Samsung had struck a great extended partnership with Qualcomm company. Other manufacturers are planning on how to commercialize 5G mobile devices by 2019.

Carriers such as AT&T, Orange, China Mobile, Verizon, SK Telecom, and Vodafone would conduct trials for the 5G NR standard to optimize their networks.

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon X50 5G modem will achieve download speeds of several megabits per second. The live trial will begin in late 2018, that means manufacturers could announce their ultra-fast smartphones and headsets next year, 2019.

  1. This is Great! I have never experienced the 4G Network! My phone is 4G enabled but couldn’t get any 4G of any network yet! I will be very cool and impressive seeing the 5G enable devices next year..
    Thanks for the info.

  2. That’s cool.. But I think they should be snappy on circulating the 4G LTE across the states in Nigeria before launching the new 5G! Just wondering how the speed will be..
