This had made the House Of The Representatives to summon Huawei boss over Mass sacking.

The House Of Representatives committee on telecommunications has summoned the Huawei CEO over mass sacking. It demanded the complete documents showing its nominal role, list of expatriates working with the firm in Nigeria, as well as the Nigerian staff working for it. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, Chairman of the committee, issued this summon during an investigative hearing on the massive loss of job in the industry and drop in revenue accrued to the federal government in the last year. Akinade-Fijabi noted that the committee required relevant documents to determine whether or not the country’s labour laws are complied with.

Huawei representative Osita Nweze said that some staff had been made redundant because of the weakness of the Naira in the past year, which he said had adversely affected the company’s operations. According to Nweze, the company recorded a 60 percent loss between 2015 and 2016, which affected the revenue returns to the federal government of Nigeria.
