The smartphone industry keeps surprising its customers with new features and innovations but lately, there are three top trending innovative features from the industry that promise consumers a better overall experience, and we’ll certainly see them show up in future handsets over the next 12 months.
1. 18:9 Aspect Ratio: Before, the standard aspect ratio of smartphones including big screen televisions is 16:9 aspect ratio but however, in 2017, a number of major smartphones moved to an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Infinix Hot S3 and other smartphones have moved to the new display screen and contents tailored to the new format is still coming out. We expect this innovation to continue booming in the rest of 2018 and beyond.
2. 120 Hz Smartphone Screen: This innovation centers on the display and Razer phone, which launched in November 2017, is the most well known phone to support the 120 Hz refresh rate, instead of the normal 60 Hz.
If your device has a higher refresh rate, its image should be smoother and clearer. So, this maintains an optimal refresh rate when you play games and gives good graphics with less screen tearing. So, we hope to see more phones adopt this feature and innovation as well.
3. The e-SIM: The Infinix Hot S3 is the first smartphone with support for e-SIM at the moment but we all know that no matter how advanced your smartphone is, you will still prefer to use the old fashioned SIM card but technology is trying to get rid of this with the new E-SIM innovation.
The advantage of this technology is that you will be able to switch carriers with a software app. This technology will be very helpful to international travellers who won’t need an extra SIM to make calls and connect with cellular data networks in other countries and those who buy unlocked phones or give old phones as gifts.
However, Google is adding e-SIM support for its latest flagship smartphones, which means the company is encouraging both smartphone manufacturers and wireless carriers to support e-SIM in future handsets. Hopefully, with this gradual process, they will be able to get rid of physical SIM cards in few years to come.
