Before this, Yahoo Messenger is one of the most popular chatting apps for everyone around the world but since, WhatsApp and Instagram and other social media has taken over, the company decided to shut down after 20 years of operation.
Although, the reason for the shutdown was not revealed but it's obvious that the instant messaging app, Yahoo Messenger has had a great heavy competitors and in fact, it's literally everyday the app do have a new competitor.
The company did not reveal the reason for the sudden shutdown but it announced that Yahoo Messenger will go offline on the 17th of July, 2018.
However, the company did not reveal any replacement for Yahoo but said they are experimenting with new services and apps, including Yahoo Squirrel - an invite-only group messaging app.
Yahoo's Parent Company, Oath, said;
"We know we have many loyal fans who have used Yahoo Messenger since its beginning as one of the first chat apps of its kind.
"As the communications landscape continues to change over, we’re focusing on building and introducing new, exciting communications tools that better fit consumer needs."
Moreover, if you are using Yahoo, your Yahoo ID will still work for Yahoo Mail application after the shutdown.
